Design Influences

Perforated Steel
Drawn to the way light passes through surfaces and how viewing from different angles can create patterns and project light in distinct ways, the face explores this intrigue through varying means.

Patchworks Quilts
The pattern used on the face was drawn from the blocky star shapes traditionally seen on these quilts. Originally made to utilize leftover fabric scraps, geometric designs were the most efficient way to aggregate fabric into useful units. The geometric patterns evolved into a representative folk art.

Kitchen Cabinets
The concept for this light grew from an idea to create miniature kitchen cabinets. The final form of both the box and face was inspired by the wall-mounted cabinets pictured above. Designed by Fabrice Juan
