EXPERIMENT 001

Irish Spring Soap Finish

It started with an idea and a text...While working with traditional soap finish for another project, I had the revelation that, in theory, soap finish could be made from any kind of soap as long as it had castile soap in it (I don’t know if that is actually the case, but I went with it). So after a quick confirmation from a friend, I had to give it a try.

*Side note* This idea was initially based on the thought that Irish Spring soap contained at least a small percentage of castile soap. Fun fact: it doesn’t! But I decided to give it a try anyway
Making The Soap FinishPic of me shredding soap
Using a 1:1 ratio by weight, I combined my shredded soap bar with warm water.
Using a double broiler, I combined the water and soap into what ended up being a very chucky and slim like concoction
